Brad Simpkins Biography
Brad Simpkins serves as the Chair of the Northeast Regional Strategy Committee for the National Cohesive Strategy. He represents state forestry agencies for the 20 northeastern states. He has spent the last 14 years working for the New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands, and currently serves as the Interim Director and the Chief of Forest Protection.
Brad’s career in wildland fire began around the age of 14 when he joined an Explorer Scout post associated with a forest fire crew in southeast Pennsylvania. He also became a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He has performed wildland fire duties for several agencies, including the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, National Park Service in New Mexico, and the Kentucky Division of Forestry before coming to New Hampshire.
In addition to his work on the Cohesive Strategy, he is also Chair of the Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Compact, a Commissioner on the NH Fire Standards and Training Commission, and a member of the NASF Forest Fire Protection Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Environmental Resource Management and an MBA from Plymouth State University. He resides with his wife and two children in rural New Hampshire where they enjoy hiking, canoeing and gardening.
