Mary Jacobs' Biography
Mary Jacobs was appointed to the Wildland Fire Executive Council (WFEC) in April 2011 to represent the National League of Cities. With over 18 years of city management experience, Mary provides a local government viewpoint regarding the issues surrounding the development of the Cohesive Strategy and regarding how future actions will affect actions and decisions of local elected officials and managers.
She has worked as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Sierra Vista, Arizona, since 2000. Shortly after her appointment to the WFEC, the Monument Fire devastated over 30,000 acres, including nearly 60 homes and 5 businesses immediately south of her community. That experience helped crystallize for her just how important cooperation and collaboration are in addressing the issue of long-term wildland fire mitigation and response.
